How the Whole Binder Works Together
System Map
Six docs. One loop. Codex is the catalog they build once. Manifest is the weekly pick. Debrief is the nightly check-in. Vault is the ledger. Award is the ceremony. Tune-Up Log is the reset when the day went sideways. Each one has a role for your kid AND a role for you. Your job shifts from guide to witness over the first few weeks — the system is designed to hand them the wheel.

⚠  The 5 Non-Negotiables  ·  Hard Rules, Not Suggestions
1Reward AFTER work. Never before. No bribes, no "finish this and I'll…". The Codex sets the price; the Vault pays it out only after it's earned.
2Effort is the cause. Not just completion. A mission tried hard but not finished still banks +5 Effort XP. The rule is on the Codex, the Debrief, and the Vault.
3Never grade the kid. Notice the behavior. Debrief Commander Notes says "What I Saw Today" — not "Assessment." Behavior is the subject, not them.
4Name the tribe. Out loud, on paper. Codex has a Squad cell. Manifest has a Witness line. Awards have a Commanders field. A kid alone on the page is a miss.
5Show Command. That's how XP becomes real. The Vault says it straight: "Show your Vault to Command at week's end." You're the witness the system is built around.
◆  Commander's Own Reset  ·  Same Rule Applies to You You'll miss a night. Miss a sign-off. Yell when you said you wouldn't. Don't fix it — get back on rhythm tomorrow. Effort is the cause for you, too. Quiet-quitting the system after a rough week is the only way this fails.
◆  The Whole Point  ◆
You're coaching them into running their own system · Your win is becoming the audience.

Handoff Timeline
Guide → Witness in 3 Weeks
Week 1
You lead. You ask the Debrief questions, you write their answers. They watch the rhythm form. Hug at the end.
Week 2
They go first. You fill gaps. Let silence sit. Don't rescue. Your pen does less.
Week 3
You sit nearby. They fill it out. You resist peeking. You audit at the end, not during.
Week 4+
You're the audience. They run it. If they're proud they'll show you — if they don't, don't ask. Let it be theirs.
🚨 When To Grab The Other Cards
  • Flare-up / meltdown: Command Companion Card. Tag In. Tune-Up.
  • Nightly ritual feels off: Debrief Card · re-read the Fade-Out.
  • Doc looks off to you: XP Evaluator · run it through the second set of eyes.
  • Missed a day: Don't fix it. Note it. That's data.
  • They want to skip a page: Protect momentum over completionism.
  • Hand off the binder: Teacher, grandparent, or stepparent stepping in? Hand them this card. They're a Commander now.
